FROM HIGH TAVOLIERE TO THE AGRO OF TORREMAGGIORE
In Puglia at the foot of the Gargano in the province of Foggia, the olive groves of the most valuable variety stand out, such as Peranzana, mainly present in this restricted territory. Hence the production of fine oils such asMalupa Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
This typicality of olive was introduced in our territory by the noble woman Elisabetta Croghan, originally from the Provence of the reigning Michele De Sangro, Prince of San Severo and Duke of Torremaggiore.
A TERRITORY LINKED TO HISTORY
In the countryside of Torremaggiore, 9 kilometers south of the city, on the west side of a hill known as the Sterparone, stood the town of Florentine, an ancient bishopric.
In December 1250 he died there
“apud portam ferream sub flore”
